Program Overview

Figure 2: A National Team of five Visiting Researchers conducted 104 Classroom Visit presentations to 6,200 grade K-12 students in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, May 2005. These data were obtained from 66 questionnaires returned by teachers in attendance. Respondents were asked if ‘the Visiting Researcher stressed conceptual understanding’, one of 11 key presentation attributes assessed. Respondents ranked the researcher on a 1 to 5 scale with 5=’strongly agree’. A grade is provided for the Visiting Researcher if he/she received 10 or more responses. The grading is harsh given that a 4 out of 5 is only a grade of 75. The expectation is a minimum grade of 80 for each Visiting Researcher on all 11 questions. A Team Grade of 91.33 indicates that presenters made a strong commitment to conceptual understanding in their audiences.
