Journey through the Universe
Program Overview

Figure 2: In Dickinson-Iron-Menominee, Michigan, November 2003, families attending one of two school field trips to informal learning venues—and designed for family learning—were asked how many times they had participated in such a program. 50% said they never had, which points to a family programming opportunity for schools. This is a typical assessment result in all communities. We also believe the number is higher than 50% given that some respondents will attribute a parent serving as a chaperone for many students, including their own, as a family learning program.
