Dr. Timothy Livengood, senior space science researcher at the National Center for Earth and Space Science Education, conducts a Journey through the Universe training workshop in January 2005 for researchers that work at major astronomical observatories on the Big Island of Hawai'i. This Partnership Workshop provided training on recipes for success when visiting classrooms and presenting at family programs. The workshop’s objective was to develop a local researcher talent pool to sustain Journey through the Universe programming in Hilo on the Big Island. It worked. By 2007 over 20 local researchers were conducting programming. Visit www.gemini.edu/journey. |
